KrisEnergy starts seismic programmes in Sakti PSC, Indonesia

Singapore-based oil and gas firm KrisEnergy has started seismic programmes in its Sakti production sharing contract (PSC) offshore East Java, Indonesia.

The 1,200km 2D seismic will be undertaken at the Sakti PSC as per the PSC’s work obligations.

KrisEnergy said the S V Nordic Bahari vessel has started the acquisition programme, with the survey contract being awarded to Alamjaya Makmur Sejahtera and partner Bahari Lines Indonesia.

Upon completion of the 2D seismic programme, another 400km² of 3D seismic will be acquired.

The 3D seismic acquisition programme is anticipated to start at the end of this month.

KrisEnergy exploration and production director Chris Gibson-Robinson said: “KrisEnergy was awarded operatorship of the Sakti PSC in February this year and we are pleased to be able to commence exploration work in a timely fashion.

“Sakti is adjacent to the Bulu PSC, where we have submitted a development plan for the Lengo gas field, and will form part of our gas aggregation plans into the gas-hungry East Java market.”

The Sakti exploration block covers 4,974km² in the East Java Sea over the western margin of the East Java Basin, Bawean Arch and the Muriah Trough.

KrisEnergy operates the Sakti PSC with 95% stake and Golden Haven Jaya holds the remaining interest.

The company has built a portfolio of 18 contract areas in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, spanning the entire exploration-to-production life cycle, since 2009.

In the first half of 2014, KrisEnergy’s working interest production was about 8,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from two licences in the Gulf of Thailand and one onshore gas field in Bangladesh.
