Wintershall Norge has awarded a $300m contract to Subsea 7 for the company’s Maria field development located in the Norwegian Sea, at a water depth of around 300m.
Under the pipeline and subsea construction (PSC) contract, Subsea 7 will provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services for three major pipeline systems linking the field as a subsea tie-back to existing infrastructure in the Norwegian Sea.
The pipelines consist of the 26km production flowline, with direct electrical heating (DEH) cable, the 46km plastic-lined water injection pipeline, and the 22km pipeline.
The company will also install the subsea production system and control umbilicals procured by Wintershall earlier through its contract with FMC Technologies in October 2014.

Subsea 7 will install the umbilicals between Kristin and the Maria templates.
The company will begin project management and engineering work at its offices in Stavanger, Norway.
Activities related to offshore will use various Subsea 7 vessels, including the new-build vessel, Seven Arctic, with its high-end capability and capacity.
Expected to commence in 2016, offshore operations are slated for completion in 2017.
Subsea 7 will carry out the pipeline production for clad, mechanically lined pipe (BuBi), plastic lined and carbon steel pipelines at its spoolbase at Vigra in Norway.

Maria is located about 20km east of the Kristin field and 45km south of the Heidrun field, in blocks 6407/1 and 6406/3.
