Technip wins contract to develop Kodiak field in Gulf of Mexico

AI Summary

French engineering and construction firm Technip has secured a contract from Deep Gulf Energy II to develop the Kodiak field in the Gulf of Mexico.

The field is located in Mississippi Canyon Blocks 727 and 771 at water depths ranging from 1,472m to 1,710m.

The project includes a subsea tie-back to the Devils Tower Truss Spar situated in Mississippi Canyon Block 773.

Technip said the pipeline will be of a bi-metallic construction, lined with corrosion resistant alloy, enabling it to withstand the field’s high temperature and pressure, as well as corrosive production fluids.

The solution will address the challenges of stringent operating conditions, the company said.

Under the contract, Technip will provide project management services, and fabricate and install more than 12km of reeled bi-metallic flowline and riser.

The deal also requires Technip to install an 11km umbilical, associated terminations and flying leads, and provide pre-commissioning and testing for the rigid line.

The company will manage the project from its operating centre in Houston, Texas, US with the offshore installation planned to be carried out in the second-half of 2015.

Technip North America president Deanna Goodwin said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this new project. Technip will leverage its unique subsea vertical integration, offering support to our client from concept to execution.”

Technip operates a fleet of specialised vessels for pipeline installation and subsea construction.
