KrisEnergy starts West Papua 2D seismic acquisition programme

AI Summary

KrisEnergy has started a 300km 2D seismic acquisition programme in the Udan Emas production sharing contract (PSC) onshore West Papua, Indonesia.

Quest Geophysical Asia secured the acquisition programme, which is expected to take four months to complete.

The programme forms part of the work obligations under the PSC.

“Once processed and interpreted, this data will allow us to further evaluate the potential of previously identified leads.”

KrisEnergy plans to carryout aerogravity and magnetic surveys in the block, which covers 5,400km² over the Bintuni Basin gas province featuring various multiple-trillion-cubic-feet gas discoveries.

The company holds a 100% working interest and operatorship of the Udan Emas PSC.

KrisEnergy exploration & production director Chris Gibson-Robinson said: “This is a complex transition zone program in an extremely remote location encompassing rugged jungle-covered terrain and shallow waters in prime fishing territory.

“Once processed and interpreted, this data will allow us to further evaluate the potential of previously identified leads.”

KrisEnergy is focused on the exploration for, and the development and production of oil and gas in Southeast Asia.

Since 2009, KrisEnergy has built a portfolio of 19 contract areas in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, spanning the entire exploration-to-production life cycle.

The company operates 12 of the contract areas. Its portfolio includes three offshore producing assets, the B8/32 and B9A oil and gas producing complex in the Gulf of Thailand and the onshore Bangora gas field in Block 9 in Bangladesh.

The remaining 16 contract areas contain a combination of development projects and exploration prospects
