$4bn Offshore Oil-And-Gas Project Launched in Qatar

With a contract value of about 4 billion U.S. dollars, the BH EPIC project was launched in Qatar officially, thereby becoming the largest international offshore oil-and-gas engineering, procurement, installation, and construction (EPIC) project that has been undertaken by a Chinese enterprise to date.

This announcement was made by the Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC), which happens to be the general contractor of the project.

With investment coming from QatarEnergy and also being developed by them, the project is located in the Bul Hanine-BH oilfield in the Qatari waters of the Persian Gulf, which is about 100 kilometers east of the coastline of Qatar. It happens to have a maximum water depth of almost 40 meters.

Beyond the record-breaking contract value, the project also goes on to stand out for its unmatched scope and technical intricacy. It goes on to include over 60 offshore oil-and-gas facilities, along with 40 subsea pipelines as well as cables, and also covers the modification of the present platforms along with the decommissioning of the obsolete facilities.

It is well to be noted that the full-scale launch of the BH EPIC project is indeed going to deepen the energy cooperation between China and Qatar and at the same time also play a key role in advancing energy collaborations among the Belt and Road countries, as per COOEC.
