Saipem and Equinor sign major engineering services pact

AI Summary

Norwegian energy firm Equinor has awarded Italian oilfield service company Saipem a two-year frame agreement to provide engineering services globally.

The agreement covers feasibility and conceptual studies, front-end engineering and design (FEED) work, detailed engineering and follow-on work, and R&D support.

Saipem will also provide assistance to Equinor for its upcoming energy-related projects in the offshore, onshore, and floating wind sectors.

Saipem E&C Offshore Division COO Francesco Racheli said: “This new agreement with Equinor, a leading player in the energy industry, consolidates a long and successful relationship and co-operation.

“Our ability in providing research and technology solutions to a company committed to long-term value creation testifies our leadership and reliability in the sector.

“In particular, our solutions in the renewable energy sector will allow us to accompany Equinor on its energy transition journey, supporting them with our technologies and highly qualified expertise.”

The scope of the agreement extends to offshore trunklines including landfalls and flowlines, components, subsea structures, as well as field layout and routing design for umbilicals, cables, static flexibles and power cables.

For over a decade now, Saipem and Equinor have formed strategic collaboration through frame agreements for works related to transportation and installation, and subsea construction.

Earlier this month, Saipem secured a contract from Polish gas grid operator Gaz-System to transport and install a natural gas pipeline between Denmark and Poland in the Baltic Sea.

In October last year, Equinor awarded Saipem a ten-year subsea service contract. This entails the use of the latter’s Underwater Intervention Drone (UID) Hydrone-R and the all-electric Work Class ROV Hydrone-W in the Njord Field development, offshore Norway.
