SBM Offshore to work with Noble Energy in two US GoM fields

AI Summary

Netherlands-based SBM Offshore has secured a contract to work with Noble Energy in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM) at the Big Bend and Dantzler fields.

SBM signed a $400m production handling agreement (PHA) with Noble Energy to produce the two fields to the Thunder Hawk DeepDraft Semi located in 6,060ft of water in the GoM.

The Big Bend and Dantzler fields are expected to produce their first oil in late 2015 and the first-quarter of 2016 respectively.

Both fields will use a maximum of 85% of the total daily asset capacity at the initial levels.

SBM Offshore CEO Bruno Chabas said: “SBM Offshore is pleased that the Thunder Hawk platform allowed for a cost effective development solution for Noble Energy and its partners.

“The deepwater semi solution offers numerous advantages for subsea developments including reduced development capital, lower operating costs and an accelerated development schedule.”

The Big Bend field is 18 miles from the Thunder Hawk platform in 7,200ft of water in Mississippi Canyon Block 698.

Noble Energy operates a 54% working interest in the field and W&T Energy VI, Red Willow Offshore and Houston Energy Deepwater Ventures V hold 20%, 15.4% and 10.6% stakes respectively.

The Dantzler field is seven miles from the Thunder Hawk platform in 6,580ft of water in Mississippi Canyon Block 782.

Noble Energy operates the field with a 45% working stake while Ridgewood Energy and W&T Energy VI own 35% and 20% interests respectively.

The Big Bend and Dantzler fields will be developed through a dual pipe-in-pipe loop system
