Technip Umbilicals and Angoflex, wholly owned subsidiaries of Technip, have received a contract to supply umbilicals to Italy based Eni’s block 15/06 East Hub Development, offshore Angola.

The field is located 350km north of Luanda at water depths of 450m-600m.

Under the contract, the companies will provide project management services and manufacture 15km of dynamic and static steel tube umbilicals.

Slated for completion in the second half of 2016, umbilicals will be manufactured by Technip Umbilicals’ facility in Lobito, Angola, in partnership with the company’s other facility in Newcastle, UK.

“This award of Block 15/06 East Hub Development is recognition of the quality and performance of the umbilicals provided by Technip.”

Technip Umbilicals managing director Sarah Cridland said: “This award of Block 15/06 East Hub Development is recognition of the quality and performance of the umbilicals provided by Technip.

“We are proud to be awarded this contract and will utilise our expertise across multiple Technip Umbilicals sites, whilst strengthening our relationship with Eni.”

In 2014, Technip was awarded a contract for the fabrication and installation of flexible and rigid pipelines at the block.

Under the East Hub Development Project, Cabaça North and Cabaca South East discoveries located within Block 15/06 will be developed.

The block is operated by Eni, which holds a 35% interest, while the remaining partners are Total (15%), Sonangol (15%), SSI (25%), Statoil (5%) and Falcon Oil Angola Investimentos (5%).
