A new gas discovery in Egypt in the Western Desert has been confirmed on November 8, 2025.
In a statement that has been made by the Ministry of Petroleum, this new gas discovery in Egypt was made in the Western Desert’s Badr-15 area, having a production capacity of 16 million cubic feet of gas as well as 750 barrels of condensate every day.
The ministry said that almost 15 billion cubic feet of gas happens to be expected to get added to the reserves of Egypt from this new field.
It also noted that such results happen to come as a part of investment incentive measures that have been executed by the ministry in order to gradually increase production and at the same time also reduce imports.
On November 7, Karim Badawi, the Egyptian Petroleum Minister, told the official news agency of the country that the ministry looks forward to raising gas production so as to reach 6.4 and 6.6 billion cubic feet every day in the span of the next five years, very well supported by prominent investments coming in from international companies.
He also explained that 2026 is sure to witness the drilling of 14 exploratory wells based in the Mediterranean Sea, having targeted reserves of almost 12 trillion cubic feet of gas, as per the same source.
The minister went on to add that the domestic production of gas and petroleum saw a decline since 2021 because of reduced investment; however, the efforts to enhance the investment climate have indeed halted the dip and restored the much-needed growth.
