In Ukhta Alexey Miller, chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee held a meeting dedicated to construction of the Ukhta – Torzhok-2 gas main.
Taking part in the meeting were members of the management committee, heads of Gazprom’s specialised structural units and subsidiaries.
It was highlighted that Gazprom, jointly with its foreign partners, resolved to construct a new export gas pipeline – Nord Stream 2. It is necessary to develop the northern corridor of the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia in order to secure gas supplies into this gas pipeline.
The construction of the Ukhta – Torzhok-2 gas main is a top priority of this work. Its length will be nearly 970 kilometers, design capacity – 45 billion cubic meters of gas a year. As of today, the detailed design documentation for the linear section is developed. Forest-clearing started along the gas main route. The results of bidding competitions for the construction of the first five sections (over 500 kilometers in length) will be announced very soon.
Eight gas compressor stations with an aggregate capacity of 689 MW are planned to be built along the Ukhta – Torzhok-2 gas pipeline route.
“Gazprom takes extensive efforts within the Ukhta – Torzhok-2 project. Tasks have been assigned and deadlines have been set. The gas pipeline will be built and completed by the 2019 end. This also pertains to the rest of the gas transmission facilities located along Bovanenkovo to Nord Stream 2,†said Alexey Miller.
On September 4, 2015 Gazprom, BASF, E.ON, ENGIE, OMV and Shell inked the Shareholders Agreement to construct the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline system with the capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas a year from Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea. The Nord Stream 2 AG joint project company is responsible for the project implementation.
The Bovanenkovo – Ukhta and Ukhta – Torzhok gas mains commissioned in 2012 are intended for natural gas delivery from Yamal fields to Central Russia.
