Libya’s Ministry of Oil and Gas has held a preliminary meeting with representatives from Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and the Chinese firm Jereh Oil and Gas to discuss potential cooperation and investment opportunities in Libya’s oil and gas sector. Representatives from the Ministry’s International Cooperation, Technical, and Planning departments participated in the meeting, which forms part of wider efforts to strengthen international cooperation and attract investment into the country’s energy industry. Discussions centred on identifying areas for collaboration within the Libyan market and examining opportunities to establish strategic partnerships that could contribute to the development of Libya’s oil and gas sector.
The meeting brought together Magdy El-Halawani, representing the CCC Group, Maysam Khaled, Acting Head of the CCC office, and Mr. Dennis Dai, Business Development Manager at Jereh Oil and Gas. Representatives discussed available investment opportunities and the potential for international companies to participate in future projects. The discussions also addressed the role of strategic partnerships in supporting sector development and advancing the industry, with an emphasis on strengthening the participation of international companies in the execution of upcoming projects.
CCC and Jereh Express Interest in the Libyan Market
Both companies expressed interest in entering and expanding their oil and gas sector investments in the Libyan market. Their representatives outlined their aspirations to establish a strong presence as leading players in the market, with the objective of fostering cooperation and pursuing mutual interests. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore how potential partnerships could support development priorities and encourage further international investment in Libya’s oil and gas sector.
Consolidated Contractors Company has a longstanding presence in Libya. In 2007, the company was part of an international joint venture alongside Brazil’s Odebrecht and Turkey’s TAV that was awarded the abandoned contract for the Tripoli International Airport development project. Jereh Group, formally Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group Co., Ltd., is a major Chinese manufacturer of oilfield equipment and a provider of integrated energy, gas engineering, and environmental solutions.
Ministry Seeks Wider International Cooperation
The Ministry of Oil and Gas said the meeting is consistent with its strategic direction to broaden cooperation with international companies and establish an attractive oil and gas sector investment environment. The Ministry’s approach aims to support the development of Libya’s oil and gas sector while encouraging sustainable growth. The preliminary discussions with CCC and Jereh Oil and Gas represent an effort to explore potential investment avenues and strengthen engagement with international companies as Libya seeks to advance its oil and gas industry. Libya has been seeking to increase investment in its energy sector to increase oil output.
