Gas is one of the few energy sources that can meet growing demand while reducing emissions from industry, the built environment and transport, when replacing coal or liquid fuels.
The LNG was delivered to the Dragon LNG terminal in the United Kingdom, the buyer of the batch was the Gazprom’s long-term partner Shell.
The cargo will enable Shell to supply further carbon neutral gas to the UK domestic market.

Steve Hill, Executive Vice President of Shell Energy noted:

Shell added that natural gas emits between 45 and 55 % fewer greenhouse gas emissions and less than 1/10 of the air pollutants than coal when used to generate electricity.
An average LNG cargo of about 70,000 tonnes emits approximately 240,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) across the value chain, the company said.
